We’ll make a 17 per cent superannuation contribution to a UniSuper account for you on continuing appointments and contracts of two years or more – significantly higher than the superannuation guarantee of 9.5 per cent. Our UniSuper consultants provide free general superannuation advice and help with paperwork and questions about super. We also have a fee-for-service financial advisor on campus for tailored advice on your financial decisions.
There’s an annual leave loading for eligible staff paid on accrued leave on the first payday in December and our fixed term and continuing staff get to enjoy extra leave over Christmas with an additional three concessional days between Christmas and the New Year.

We provide education leave for staff to cover study time, examination leave, time off to attend your graduation ceremony and English language training. Managing work and life can be tricky. Our working and leave options encourage our staff and managers to find a balance between professional and personal life that’s right for them.
Access a range of flexible working options including part-time work, variable working hours, work from home arrangements and purchased leave. Other leave is also available for things like moving house, volunteering, religious and cultural obligations. Eligible staff are able to access paid personal leave to care of a family member, or when leave is required for compassionate or bereavement reasons. Continuing staff members can also purchase an additional five to ten days leave in a 12-month period. Paid parental and partner's leave is available for the birth, adoption or fostering of a child by a staff member or their partner where they are responsible for the care of the child.
For staff caring for young children, our on-campus early childhood education and care is available at one of two childcare centres at Macquarie. Priority is given to Macquarie University staff and students, and staff employed by designated entity partners. Macquarie University Vacation Care provides a recreational program for primary school aged children during the school holidays.

A generous personal leave allowance ensures you can take the time to get well and return to work when you are fit and healthy. On-campus medical services including general practice clinic, medical imaging services, Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology and physiotherapy are available through Macquarie University Hospital which is located on campus.
