Study for staff

The Study for Staff scheme provides all staff with the opportunity to attend a lecture series as part of their approved professional development without enrolling in a degree program, paying tuition fees and undertaking assessment activities.

View the units on offer in the University Handbook. Your chosen lecture series must aim to develop skills and/or knowledge that relate to your current role and the activities you may perform and is also relevant to the strategic priorities of the work unit and University.

How to apply

Both academic and professional staff who are employed on a continuing basis or have a fixed term of greater than two years are eligible to apply. If you are enrolled in an award program (eg a degree at the University), lectures for that program will be excluded from the Study for Staff program.

To apply:

  1. Submit a written request to your manager outlining how the lecture series will support your development.
  2. After gaining approval from your manager, submit your request to the relevant faculty student administration manager.

The Unit Convenor will give final approval. Applications may be denied if there is no space available in the unit or if the applicant does not meet the unit pre/co-requisites.
