The Sessional Academic Staff Unit was established in 2013 to support the 200+ sessional lecturers and tutors working in the Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE).
We are located on level 2 of E4A (4 Eastern Road) in the newly refurbished room 223, which contains spaces for our sessional staff to consult with students or to work privately, as well as a casual space for meeting with colleagues or groups of students. Support is provided for professional development, and administrative matters such as long service leave.
Our Faculty is progressing towards AACSB accreditation, and sessional lecturing staff are required to meet accreditation standards.
Working as a sessional staff member with the Faculty of Business and Economics
The Faculty of Business and Economics employs over 200 sessional academic staff. Roughly three quarters tutor, while the other quarter lectures and may also tutor. Our sessional academics come from a range of backgrounds. We have people who teach part time in addition to their normal jobs, people who have sessional teaching as their profession, research students, and a range of others. All of them became sessional academics because they enjoy the work, contributing to society by educating the next generation of leaders.
Our Faculty employs sessional academic staff in each of our four departments, across a wide range of units. If you would like to investigate the units the Faculty teaches, specific information about them is available in their unit guides. If you would like to become a sessional academic with the Faculty of Business and Economics, we accept expressions of interest through the online application system on the Macquarie job site. The Faculty is progressing towards AACSB accreditation, and sessional lecturing staff are required to meet accreditation standards.
Lecturing expressions of interest are submitted online at: Expression of Interest - Casual Lecturers
