Accounting and Corporate Governance (ACG) is the largest Department in the Faculty of Business and Economics, with close to 60 academics in accounting, auditing, information systems, and business law. The Department is home to a group of experts who publish world-class research and undertake high-level scholarship activities both within Australia and internationally.

We aim to foster strong continuing relationship with industry and the professions through the provision of relevant education programs in accounting and corporate governance, the dissemination of world-class research and scholarship activities.

Head of Department

Dr Rahat Munir

Dr Rahat Munir is an Associate Professor, Interim Head of Department and Chair of Quality Assurance Committee in the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance. He has been an academic in accounting and banking disciplines for over 25 years. His teaching is across undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in management accounting and related subjects. He also supervises honours and PhD students. Over the last decade, he has worked on various projects, including projects funded by the International Finance Corporation, the World Bank and the NSW Attorney General Department.

Research and funding

The Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance encourages quality research across a variety of issues, ideologies and methodologies. Our research objectives are:

  1. Deliver research that explores and shapes real world issues.
  2. Build strategic partnerships that advance knowledge and practice.
  3. Facilitate a collegiate and nurturing research environment.
  4. Build a reputation for contemporary research and thought leadership.

CFO forum

The Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie University is host of the Macquarie Park CFO Forum.

The CFO Forum aims to provide a dynamic platform for business leaders to network and develop strategies and new ideas in addressing challenges in the business environment via closed discussions and presentations. The Forum also seeks to create a conducive environment for engagement between business and academia and generate opportunities for businesses to draw on the research expertise of our academics.
