Audiovisual FAQs

Trying to connect a Mac book to the lectern?

An RGB (lectern input) to DVI (mac output) is required for this function. If these are not supplied with the laptop, then they can be purchased from any electronics shop (e.g. Dick Smith) for approx $30.00.

Digital Lectern System Types L0D & L1D

Starting the lectern

  • Swipe your access card over the swipe card reader to activate the lectern
  • Each swipe will add 90 minutes to the lectern, up to a maximum 4.5hrs
  • The figure next to the hourglass symbol gives you the amount of time remaining

Source

  • Select your source

Computers 

Resident PC 

  • Ensure computer is on. 
  • Press COMPUTERS, then press RESIDENT PC. 
  • Login using your OneID or the password found underneath the keyboard. 

Laptop

  • Connect laptop using VGA, DISPLAY PORT or HDMI display cable. 
  • Press COMPUTERS. 
  • Press EXTERNAL LAPTOP. 

Blu Ray / DVD 

  • Press BLU RAY to play Blu Ray or DVD 
  • The control buttons (Eject, Play, Stop, Volume etc) and navigation controls will be displayed at the centre of the touch screen. 

Visualiser 

  • Press VISUALISER 
  • Use controls on the machine Destination 
  • Press PREVIEW to see image on Computer Monitor. 
  • Press PROJECT to project selected source onto the screen. 

Microphone 

  • Lectern and wireless mics are available. 
  • Lectern mic will be on automatically. 
  • Wireless mic is in the charger in the keyboard slide-out drawer. 
  • Slide the ON/OFF button at the top of the wireless mic, and a green light should come on. 
  • Return the mic to the charger after use and an orange light should come on. It will automatically switch off when inserted in the charger. 
  • IMPORTANT: Do not put the wireless mic transmitter inside your pocket. It is best to clip it on the outside of your pocket or on a belt. 

Record 

  • Timetabled lecture and seminar activities will be automatically scheduled for recording 
  • You can pause the recording by pressing the PAUSE RECORD button on the touch screen. 
  • When the recording is paused the button will flash and toggle between the pause symbol and Recording Muted 
  • Press PAUSE RECORD again to enable recording.

  • PLEASE NOTE: Only SCREEN #1 will be recorded.

  • Swipe Card and pull the upper lectern door out at the same time. This will activate the lectern and give you access to the Computer and Blu Ray player. 
  • Each swipe will add 90 minutes to the lectern, up to a maximum 4.5hrs 
  • The figure next to the hourglass symbol gives you the amount of time remaining 

Source 

  • Select your source. 

Computers 

Resident PC 

  • Ensure computer is on. 
  • Press COMPUTERS. 
  • Login using the passward found in the slide-out drawer of the lectern. 

Laptop 

  • Connect laptop using laptop display cable. 
  • Press COMPUTERS.

Visualiser (Type 2) 

  • Press VISUALISER 
  • Use controls on the machine 

Destination 

  • Press PREVIEW to see image on Computer Monitor. 
  • Press PROJ to project the images onto large screen. 

It will take a little while to warm up the projector.
