  • Human ethics and approvals

    The University expects that all research with human participants adheres to the standards set out in the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007).

  • Animal ethics and approvals

    The University expects that all research involving animals complies with the Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes, 8th edition (2013).

  • Biosafety, biosecurity and gene technology

    The requirements and processes associated with working with biohazardous materials at Macquarie University.

  • Chemical

    Staff and students of Macquarie University that handle chemicals are required to complete an induction on hazardous chemical safety.

  • Laser

    Macquarie University is committed to the safe use of laser products both on and off campus.

  • Radiation

    The University has documented procedures for ensuring the risk of radiation accidents are controlled.

  • Controlled goods and technology

    The University expects that all research involving controlled goods and technologies is compliant with the Defence Trade Controls Act 2012.

  • Autonomous Sanction Act

    The University expects that all research involving international persons and organisations to comply with the Autonomous Sanctions Act 2011 where applicable.
