Sustainability
The concept of sustainability is a lot simpler than people think
Be good to yourself, to others and to the planet. We do this by understanding and appreciating the interconnectivity between our society, the environment and the economy, and how our decisions and actions impact this balance – both now and into the future.
There are plenty of interesting opportunities to be more sustainable. The first step in the sustainability movement is to decide what aspect of sustainability interests you.

Doing good for me
In our fast-paced and ever-changing world, the need to look after yourself is greater than ever. Yet it’s easy to overlook our own needs, including sustaining our own wellbeing. Perhaps you think you’re being self-indulgent, or maybe you feel overwhelmed by life’s demands and it’s just easier to neglect yourself.
The reality is, to be able to contribute fully to society, the economy and the environment, we need to ensure we take care of ourselves. Part of living sustainably is personal sustainability – nurturing your own health and wellbeing, so you can thrive and realise your full potential, now and into the future.

Doing good for others
By helping others and working towards the greater good for all, we can use our individual strengths and interests to make our communities – and our world – better. What’s more, when you help others, you’re also helping yourself by fulfilling a sense of purpose and benefiting your wellbeing. It’s a win-win!
Practicing sustainability is about paying closer attention to the interconnectivity between us all. It embraces the necessity of looking after others, so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of wellbeing, participate fully in our society and reach our maximum potential.

Doing good for the planet
We are all connected. Whether you are a politician, plumber, librarian or teacher – we all share this wonderful living planet. It feeds us, shelters us, sustains us. It gives us life. So, it only makes sense that we want it to be balanced, healthy and thriving, so that we, too, can be healthy and thrive.
As responsible global citizens, we owe it to ourselves and to each other to be good to this world of ours. And we can do that by developing a keener awareness of environmental issues and taking some thoughtful steps from there. From our options to our actions, we can make a positive impact on the welfare of the planet. By nurturing, protecting and preserving our environment, we – and those who will come after us – can continue to enjoy its amazing resources and wonders.
