Help shape Macquarie's Academic Integrity Statement

Help shape Macquarie's Academic Integrity Statement

The draft Academic Integrity Statement is currently open for consultation and will be finalised at a workshop, to which you are all invited.

This is your opportunity to help shape the statement that will form the foundation of an institution wide strategy that will underpin the University’s culture of academic integrity.

What is the Academic Integrity Statement?

At the end of 2016, the Academic Senate established the Student Advisory Group on Academic Integrity.  This Group developed a positively framed statement of values, rights and responsibilities in relation to academic integrity, that applies to all of Macquarie’s academic community.  The statement will form the foundation of an institutional wide communication strategy and will underpin the culture and approach to academic integrity at the University.

The draft statement is available online for consultation.  Feedback can be submitted via the online form by 21 April.

What’s next?

The statement will be finalised at a workshop on 4 May 2017.  During the workshop, we will:

  • Identify and clarify contributions made by staff and University work units/departments during the consultation period;
  • Provide a further opportunity for staff and University work units/departments to provide feedback and have input into the draft statement and values; and
  • Work toward alignment on a final Academic Integrity foundational statement and values for recommendation to the Academic Senate.

Workshop details:

Thursday 4 May 2017
9.30am – 12.30pm

The final statement will go to the Academic Senate for approval at its meeting on 30 May 2017.

A Steering Group will be convened that will be charged with implementing a series of recommendations and actions.  These actions have been identified to produce a combined framework of strategic, integrated and targeted measures that promote academic integrity across the University.
