HDR Supervision Overview

The supervision of HDR candidates straddles both teaching and research since it is about helping candidates develop the capacity to become researchers. Much of day-to-day information supervisors will need is available on Supervisor Central. At this site you will find information on the Macquarie University Supervisory Register (MQSR), the various structures and types of HDR degrees, admission process, candidature management plans, thesis examination, details on how to become a HDR supervisor, policies related to HDR candidates and supervisors, pathways to PhDs, roles and responsibilities for HDR supervisors and HDR candidates.

The Learning and Teaching Centre oversees the professional development of supervisors through the Supervision Enhancement Program as well as participates in a number of research projects on supervision. Contact Associate Professor Robyn Dowling (robyn.dowling@mq.edu.au) for more information.
