learn.mq

From semester 1 2012 learn.mq (Blackboard) was replaced by iLearn. Blackboard will still be used by MGSM until later in 2012, and is only available to other staff for file retrieval purposes.

learn.MQ utilises the following technologies:

Blackboard

Blackboard CE8 (previously known as WebCT) is the old Learning Management System, centrally supported by the Learning and Teaching Centre. During 2011 we implemented iLearn (incorporating Moodle) to replace Blackboard as the University's Learning Management System. See iLearn information. From February 2012 Blackboard will only be available for MGSM units.

Echo360 (previously known as iLecture)

Echo360 is used for all lecture recordings. The system can be used for recording lecture series, one-off lectures, special events, seminars, and conferences in the supported venues. Echo360 is also available as part of iLearn.

LAMS

The Learning Activity Management System (LAMS) allows the creation of sequences of online collaborative activities incorporating tools such as chat, resource sharing, forums, polling and interactive questions. LAMS sequences are created by means of an intuitive 'drag-and-drop' visual authoring environment. Sequences are easily shared and transferable. LAMS is suitable for creating activities supporting role plays, enquiry, debate and exploring concepts in depth.

Wimba Voice Tools

All convenors with units on the Blackboard CE8 server can use six Wimba Voice Tools. We anticipate that Wimba will only be available until the end of 2012.
